St. Louis Community Partners with Operation Food Search

Expanding Our Giveback Through Partnership

We’re excited to recap the awesome experience we’ve had working with OFS!

We partnered with Operation Food Search’s Summer Meals Program at three branch locations to provide nutritious lunches for children during the summer months. The Credit Union also hosted a Pop-Up Food Pantry that served family meal kits and included healthy cooking demonstrations.

Operation Food Search Pop Up Pantry & Summer MealsIn total, nearly 1,800 meals were distributed!

We salute OFS in their fight to heal the hurt of hunger in St. Louis, and are pleased to stand with them as a community partner to help bring nutritious food to the communities we serve. SLCCU hosts Operation Food Search’s Mobile Food Program vans

The school year comes to an end. While some children may be enjoying a carefree summer of fun and excitement, others may be wondering where their next meal may come from.

Summer 2017, St. Louis Community Credit Union announced our partnership with Operation Food Search and its Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). Funded by the USDA, this special initiative ensures that kids receive meals when school is not in session.

From Monday June 5th through Friday, August 11th St. Louis Community Credit Union hosted mobile meal vans from Operation Food Search on the following branch sites, Monday through Friday:

Thanks to this much-needed effort, thousands of children 18 and younger gained access to nutritious food free of charge in our community. Each meal contained: milk, fruits, vegetables, whole grains and protein.

Since 1981, Operation Food Search (OFS) has empowered families with a range of programs and services proven to reduce food insecurity and increase access to healthy and affordable food.

St. Louis Community is more than a credit union. Each day, we do what we can to help our members and our community thrive. What we do matters.
